About Me

CREATOR, HOST, WRITER, PRODUCER

Nicki Woodard:

Back in high school, Nicki Woodard first merged her passions of history and media making video documentaries for History Fair (yes, like Science Fair) using her father’s super-VHS studio.  Since then she went on to the University of Texas at Austin studying both B.A. in History and B.S. in Radio-Television-Film.  She would go on to earn an M.A. in Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Chicago.  She worked for 4 years on multiple History Channel and A&E documentaries before exploring other parts of Hollywood.  She has served as a research consultant for USA’s Mr. Robot Seasons 3 & 4 and Briarpatch as well as helping others develop subjects on other projects.  She loves combining history, research, and media.

In parallel to her professional development, Nicki spent the summer between her junior and senior year doing a high school program at Brown University and visited Newport, Rhode Island where she experienced her first love.  Shortly afterwards returning home, she lost her brother to cancer and has had a long complicated life including a failed marriage.  After her divorce and ending a long time job, she went to find a project to develop for film and television and stumbled onto an article about a summer’s events in Newport, Rhode Island in 1929 — a few months before the infamous Wall Street Crash.  After further digging, she discovered a world of actual heirs & heiresses whose lives paralleled her own all except in money.  After years of developing that idea, Nicki has turned those stories into As The Money Burns podcast.
